OBITUARY

Margaret Kathleen (McCarley) Martinez, known as Margy to her loved ones, 53, of Fort Myers, FL passed away in the comfort of Hope Hospice, surrounded by so much love from her family and friends.

Margy was born on September 30th, 1970 to Joyce (Fleming) McCarley and Paul McCarley. She is survived by her two children; Mara (Martinez) Tincher, and Jonah Martinez. Margy was GiGi to her two grandchildren; Mila Tincher and Easton Tincher. Also surviving Margaret is her six siblings; Daniel McCarley, Tim McCarley, Kelly (McCarley) Maniscalco, Patrick McCarley, Andrew McCarley, and Brian McCarley, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Margy was preceded in death by her loving parents, whom she has now returned to.

Margy was a remarkable educator and her students were her second family. Her spunky spirit made an impact on so many lives in a way that words cannot express. Margy’s passion for teaching was contagious and made her students fall in love with learning.

Margy’s other name was “Gigi” and she loved every minute of being a GiGi to her “boo boos”. With her grandchildren she would dance and sing in the kitchen, pick shells at the beach, eat Italian ice, and play on the playground she helped build. Her spirit lives on in her granddaughter when she dances “like a free bird” and in her grandson when he’s causing trouble.

If you were lucky enough to know Margy well, you will know Margy was a force, a firework of a person. You probably shared some time at the beach listening to the Passengers or the Dixie Chicks, had a few items ruined by her favorite product bleach, shopped at a thrift store or two, went to Chinese restraunts ordering Moo Goo Gai Pan, found a Dive Wing Bar and a ate a concoction of medium, garlic parmesan wings, and most definitely danced off beat on a dance floor. Margy was fiesty and wild, with a heart full of love. She really lived and loved hard.

A mother’s hug last longer after she lets go. Margy will always be with her children, grandchildren, and all of the other people she’s shared her vibrant spirit with. Although her body is not here with us- all the love and laughter she shared on this earth will remain here inside the memories of her favorite people.

Per her wishes, no formal services will be held. There will be a beach send off on the first day of summer, June 20th.

The family would like to thank Laida Cereceda and the entire staff of Hope Hospice of Cape Coral for their outstanding care of our mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
